It is located in the hill station of Pachmarhi and the name is called Pandav caves because five simple caves are carved out of one single big rock. It is said that during the period of exile the Pandav brothers from Mahabharata stayed here in these 5 caves and after that it became famous. These caves are very peaceful and the gardens here give a feel of relaxation. The walls speak about its age and the historical importance to imagine what life was like during that period of time. The caves are about 8 km from the main park area and are open from morning until evening.

If you take a short drive from the park you arrive at an UNESCO World Heritage Site called the Bhimbetka and it is protected. You will find age-old paintings on the wall which are thousands of years old and show pictures of animals like elephants, bison, and tigers, as well as people dancing and hunting. It is like a giant history book as you get to know how people lived in these forests long before us.

The river that flows near the Satpura is the Denwa river and a dam is made to conserve the water and it is called the Denwa Backwaters. You can sit here in the calm and peaceful atmosphere while looking at the green Pachmarhi hills in front. If you want to see a panoramic view of the park then visit the Dhoopgarh Peak which is the highest point in the Satpura mountain range. The views of sunrise and sunset are worth coming here to the top when the colour of the sky changes from orange, pink, and purple and the whole forest feels like a green carpet that has been spread over. The peak is about 17 km from the park and you get to see with every turn and ups it takes you closer to the top. Do not forget to carry your jacket as it can get windy and cool at the top and this is a must place to visit when in Satpura National Park.

If you love waterfalls then this is the place called the Bee Falls which drops from a great height into a deep, green valley. To reach here you have to take a short trek and the water here is clean and cool where you can sit on the banks and enjoy it. Another wonderful water body near Satpura is the Tawa Reservoir where taking a boat ride on this large lake is a must. You get to see another view from the boat and also spot many water birds with gentle breeze moving away. It is a very peaceful activity and a nice break from riding in a jeep.
